Audio dropouts with AoIP drivers - Windows 10 build 2004 and higher

Some BE customers running AudioVAULT have reported issues with Audio dropouts on the systems running AoIP drivers after upgrading to Windows 10 build 2004 and higher.

In Windows 10 Pro 2004 and higher, Microsoft added extra delays within their OS kernel scheduler to better support multi-threaded CPU cores. This new “feature” has compromised the ability of the network interface to be able to transfer frequent small packets to the PC’s CPU where the AoIP driver service is running. This, in effect, hobbled and reduced throughput in the CPU. Since low latency IP audio consists of frequent small packets, the audio performance of the PC using AoIP TCP packets is being negatively affected.

If your AoIP system has been impacted please contact Studio Technical Support for information on possible solutions.
